Disabled path project, soil stabilisation and erosion control

The project involved the creation of a path for Haverigg Junior School by Environmental Ground Stabilisation Limited using "The Consolid Soil Stabilisation System".

The path was installed to provide access around the playing field for their disabled pupils. The whole project included draining the playing field, re-seeding the grass, constructing a dipping pond and constructing the path around the perimeter of the field.

This picture above shows the compaction of the already treated soil.

The soil has been treated and rolled and is prepared for the addition of a wearing coarse in this case gravel.

The latest pictures of this footpath construction project are shown below, they were taken in February 2007, a typically wet and cold month in Cumbria.

The small wildlife pond, which was developed as part of this project, had previously emptied on a number of occasions due partly to porous soil structure and also due to damage caused by children poking the pond lining material with sticks. Kids will be kids!
